It's such a shame that this property had not been cleaned as it has some positive features. For example, it's location is good if you don't need parking nearby. The upstairs bathroom sink had hairs and toothpaste in it and there were dirty marks on the toilet seat. The kitchen had food waste and sticky marks on the worktops. The dining room mantle piece was dirty, as was the floor in the breakfast room. Furthermore, a number of light switches and doors were also dirty. Photographic evidence was sent to Sykes, the company used to book the cottage with but the owner refused to accept the state of the cottage, stating her reason was that no-one had allegedly complained before.

The owner advertised the property as having a television. It did, but not one that worked. The owner was reluctant to pay the management team to come out and look at the TV, but eventually she did and it could not be fixed by them. It was clear from the conversation with the owner that she was fully aware that the TV did not work and had not sorted this out prior to our arrival. She said that a malfunctioning TV was what we should expect when holidaying in Cornwall because of the trees. Cornish trees must be different to the rest of the country.

Parking for the summer is described as nearby. That is open to opinion. In ours, it was not.

I couldn't recommend a stay at this property, unless you are happy to clean dirty toilets, sinks, kitchens etc and take a chance as to whether you will find all facilities working as advertised..Nor could I recommend using Sykes Cottages. I agree with a previous review from an unhappy Sykes customer that the company acts too much in favour of owners and doesn't have a fair balance for supporting paying customers.
