We stayed at the beautiful Owl Barn and as soon as we walked through the door it was obvious this immaculate property was not going to disappoint!

The attention to detail was apparent with the welcome pack supplied for us and our four legged friend on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble and Beth's knowledge of the area, lead to some amazing days out. These included thrill seeking at Adrenalin Quarry, kayaking at Talland Bay and shopping in Plymouth, all just a short drive away.

Lovely meal at the local pub, The Weary Friar, which was merely a ten minute walk away.

The hot tub at Owl Barn was a big hit and made an already fantastic week even better.

The dog walking facilities on site were brilliant and our dog has had a lovely busy week too!

We can't recommend Kernock Cottages highly enough. We have had an amazing time.

We stayed in Heather Barn for our summer holiday and had a fabulous time. We loved the garden best of all because it is huge and private but the cottage itself is also lovely, very clean, modern and finished to a very high standard. We had fantastic weather and some great days out as Cornwall is beautiful and there are lots of things to do and places to visit. Our best day was a family canoe trip courtesy of the Tamar Trails Centre which was really good fun. We also enjoyed the outdoor water park at Paignton and body boarding at the beautiful beaches of Holywell Bay near Newquay and Widemouth Bay at Bude. Unreservedly recommended!

We stayed in Heather Barn. The accommodation was really disabled friendly with a wet room, accessible wardrobes, everything on one level and loads of space. Heather Barn had everything you need and more, and there are some really nice touches. The outside space was amazing, from our own garden space which was populated by rabbits at night, through to the grounds which are full of wonderful rolling hills, lots of different trees and also a beautiful tree lined avenue when you drive in.

Beth was very attentive and she really goes the extra mile, including returning the watch I left behind. I would thoroughly recommend Kernock Cottages.

It is also well located for touring around. We had lovely days out at Looe, Burgh Island and Bude and there are lots of other places nearby.

We enjoyed a fabulous 3 night break at the Kernock Cottages in May 2014 (staying in the Owl Barn).

Our cottage was very clean, well equipped and well maintained. Quite frankly it would be lovely to live in. All of the staff were very helpful providing us with excellent tips and advice concerning where to visit and places to eat (we highly recommend the Springer Spaniel Pub near Launceston)

The cottages are set in a tranquil setting with amazing views, encouraging residents to relax and unwind whilst also offering very convenient access to the attractions and beautiful scenery of both south and north Cornwall.

Cottage Review:

Having travelled extensively worldwide this was our first visit to the UK. We stayed in The Coach House for 9 nights and really enjoyed it very much. The Cottage is very well equipped and very comfortable furnished. We really enjoyed the Cottage style. The surroundings are very beautiful and peaceful and it is a great place to relax and to explore the surrounding Areas in Cornwall and Devon. We were very lucky with the weather and had breakfast almost every morning in the small garden in front of the Cottage. The owners dog came around and sat with us while we were having our breakfast without bothering us. We really enjoyed this as she is a very friendly dog. Although my husband and I are very fond of Dogs we did not enjoy the dog hair in the Cottage, but this was really the only Point which we thought was a bit negative. I guess we are just very fuzzy. Although we do not have children, we can recommend Kernock Cottages to families with smaller and bigger Kids. There is a very nice playground and plenty of space to run around without bothering any other guests. We will definitely recommend Kernock Cottages to our friends and families and might even be back one day during one of our travels.

Owner response:
Thanks for the review, and I'm very glad you enjoyed the Coach House and your holiday. I am mortified that you found dog hair in the cottage - we go to great lengths to ensure that every cottage is thoroughly cleaned between each stay to an exceptionally high standard, which is reflected in the vast majority of our reviews. I would certainly not regard this as being fussy - we are very proud of our 5* Gold grading, and it is important to us that the cottages are all immaculate for every new guest, so I apologise unreservedly if you found hair. We have never had a complaint before, but will be sure to redouble our housekeeping to ensure this situation doesn't happen again. Beth

We have just returned from a fabulous week at Kernock Cottages staying in Orchard Cottage with our extended family, 5 adults and 3 children. We had a fabulous, relaxing holiday. The cottage was equipped with everything you could possibly want, the decor throughout was very stylish and relaxing. The owners Beth and Hugh have thought of everything. We loved sitting out on the patio for breakfasts and evening drinks looking at the amazing view. The cottage was very spacious and the gardens were a favourite with our boys (5, 7 and 9) particularly the resident bunnies! The onsite trampoline and play areas were also a hit. There is lots of space for exploring and adventures! The surrounding Cornish countryside is beautiful. We would recommend visits to Looe and Polperro, we did a little boat trip in Polperro which was great fun too. We ate mainly in the cottage but ate out in the local Weary Friar, the Woods cafe in Cardinham Woods and River Cottage canteen in Plymouth all of which were excellent and worth a visit. Our boys did the Gruffalo trail in Cardinham Woods along a 3 km trail which included lots of nature tips, excellent. We enjoy cycling and took our bikes along, we did a trail in Seaton Countryside park and The Camel trail from Wadebridge to Padstow, fantastic, very flat and great for kids with the promise of excellent fish and chips at the end! All in all a fabulous holiday in a wonderful setting, cant wait to go back!

We had a very friendly and warm welcome staying at Tree Barn Cottage with our 3 big dogs. We had a trailer and lots of sailing kit with us and there was plenty space, help and advise at hand with the owners living on site. We'd recommend it to any family with or without dogs and would certainly come again if we are near Plymouth. It's very peaceful and quiet!

Our short break in Orchard cottage was delightful. The cottages are scrupulously clean yet warmly inviting. However the best thing is the attitude of the owners, just so friendly and accommodating. They invited our 6yr old to their daughter's birthday party which was a lovely touch and even posted back some clothing and footwear we had left behind. That kind of service is rare and deserves commendation and gratitude. Highly recommended.

Beautiful barn conversion, very spacious inside, light and airy but still very warm including the bathrooms. Very comfortable beds and excellent shower. Even bathrobes and hairdryer included. The facilities were excellent with a wide variety of kitchen and cooking facilities, everything you would need to cook a meal as you would do at home. There were even some cleaning products provided.

In a lovely location, very private and quiet, only neighbours you see from the window are the bunnies and birds!

The only negative, from our perspective was that the short lane to the closest pub ' the Weary Friar' (or knackered monk as its referred to) is only one cars width for most of the way which is a bit seat clenching in case you meet someone coming in the opposite direction as there are limited passing places, but it is only five minutes in the car. At the time of year that we went it was a bit wet and muddy so not ideal for wheelchair 'on foot' in particular because of the narrow lane, so we chose to drive. There is a Waitrose and petrol station about 4 miles so not walking distance but close enough to do a shop on arrival. The owners were very helpful before and after booking providing lots of helpful information about the accommodation and surrounding facilities.

Cornwall is a lovely part of the UK and well worth the journey.

What a wonderful place to stay - we cannot recommend it enough. Everything was above our expectations. The cottage was well equiped with so many special touches ... the bath robes, all necessary kitchen products and especially the magnifying mirrors - an essential for us females! We felt immediately welcome and at home - as did our dog! The views at Tree Barn Cottage are amazing with beautiful sunsets and so many wonderful walks nearby.

Make up of party:  Tree Barn Cottage was spacious for a couple but good for a family or two young couples with a child each. When our family were younger they would have loved the adventure play area.

We stayed in Tree barn for the week when my daughter got married at Lantallack.

Our friends and family occupied all of the cottages during this time and it was the most perfect place to stay as it provided all the accommodation and facilities that we needed, especially the child friendly equipment and activities.

The cottages are superbly decorated and equipped, and Beth looked after us really well, including the printing of the grooms speech on the day of his wedding to my daughter! Sweet!

This is a very special place to stay and it provided the perfect backdrop for a wonderful family event.

We WILL be back!

We stayed in Tree Barn with another couple for the weekend of a friend's wedding and couldn't have been happier. The cottage is beautifully decorated, very comfortable and with good wifi and hot water aplenty (and towelling robes to make you really feel at home!). Beth was hugely accommodating in our late arrival on the Friday evening and a late departure on the Monday. We would highly recommend a stay here.

If peace, tranquility and space is what you are looking for then this is the place for you. We stayed in Tree Barn and had a fantastic stay. The cottage was well equipped and homely and our daughter particularly loved the "magic table" full of toys. On the occasion of our Golden Wedding my wife and I have arranged a holiday fortnight with all of our family, - the old couple in Heather Barn and the children and grandchildren in Orchard Cottage.

After having learnt left hand driving and moving on roads 2 m wide between hedges 4 m high, we appreciated lovely Cornwall with beautiful landscapes, fine weather, silky air and friendly people.

Beth and Hugh have done their very best to guarantee us a pleasant stay in Heather Barn, which was a luxurious (and sometimes a little bit too warm) home.

Being back in Germany we shall never forget our wonderful holidays in Kernock Cottages.

Your cottage was above and beyond our expectations, finished and fitted to an excellent standard that really helped us to enjoy our summer break regardless of the unpredictable weather. However, the thing that impressed us most was your flexibility, friendliness and welcoming attitude. We had a number of awkward requests, such as arriving early, asking for an additional cot on the day of arrival and requirement for 6 days rather than 7, but nothing seemed to be too much trouble for you. The icing on cake was when you discovered Will (our one year old) loved trains and arrived at the door with a huge train set which kept him happy all week. These little touches and your helpfulness really made our holiday - thank you so much. We will most definitely be recommending your cottages to our friends and hope to stay with you again in the future.

Just enjoyed a holiday at Orchard Cottage with my 3 Sisters,Chris, Moira and Colleen, to clebrate Chris's 60th Birthday. The cottage was superb, extremely comfortable and well equipped throughout. The views are stunning and it is ideal place to relax and unwind. Hugh and Beth are brilliant hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. We took advantage of the membership to the China Clay club and the facilities are great for all ages. The Eden Project and Lost Garden of Heligan are well worth a visit and if you are prepared to drive the distance then Truro is brilliant for a bit of retail therapy. Kernock Cottages provides an environment for all ages and I would definately recommend it.

The complimentary membership to the China Clay club was an added bonus and offered all health facilities, with a lovely swimming pool well worth a visit. The Eden Project is within driving distance and for those who enjoy a little retail therapy you have Plymouth or a bit further ,Truro, which is a beautiful City. We just stayed at Orchard Cottage for a week and had a great time.

We immediately found the cottage welcoming and cosy, despite it being very spacious and smartly presented.

All the rooms are tastefully decorated, kitchen well kitted-out, and the sitting room is particularly comfortable, with a lovely fireplace and beautiful views of the valley (the upstairs bedrooms also had great views).

Outside in the gardens, there's loads to do for the kids (it's hide and seek heaven and they loved the climbing frames etc).

Wildlife fans will enjoy watching the the fairly bold rabbits trim the lawns, not to mention the buzzards that eye them hungrily from above.

The cottages are located within easy driving distance of pretty seaside towns like Fowey and Looe, and it's not too far from the Eden Project either.

Closer to home, we (Mum and Dad) had a really nice meal at Langmans Restaurant nearby in Callington. Definitely worth bringing along on holiday Grandpa as a baby-sitter!

We had a wonderful time staying at Tree Barn cottage for February half term. As a family of four with children aged 2 and 5 it is always important for us to find somewhere that is both child friendly and well equipped. We found Tree Barn to be just this - stair gates were a huge plus with our curious 2 year old as was the "magic table" filled with toys for her age (although she spent more time hiding in the table than playing with things ha ha!) The cottage and setting is beautiful and a real "home away from home". Spotlessly clean and tidy but with all the home comforts and a very luxurious feel we really enjoyed our stay. Added extras like White Company bath robes and toiletries were a plus - as was the welcome pack including lovely biccies and a bottle of wine on arrival. We couldn't have asked for more. During our stay we visited Plymouth, Polperro, Seaton and Crealy Adventure Park but to be honest we loved the cottage so much we could have quite happily simply spent a week there and not have been outside! Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Coach House. We had stayed at the same place the year before, at the same time. We do this because it is my birthday and we like to get away on our own after the stress of Christmas etc. it is peaceful, tranquil and just what you need after a busy year. The Coach House is for 2 adults and it is adequate, with all of the home comforts. The views are lovely and there is wildlife all about you. The village pub serves a brilliant roast dinner and very homely and welcoming. The church is 1000 years old and it has recently been struck by lightening causing untold damage to it, it\'s such a shame. Hopefully the villagers can get together to raise some funds. Beth is really friendly and will do all she can in order to facilitate a nice stay. The grounds are well maintained and the other cottages/houses look lovely. I would highly recommend to any one, it is situated in a rural location but equally it is easy to find normality, should you feel the need!!!! There is Saiinsburys and Waitrose very close by to restock on provisions.

I would highly recommend to any one, it is situated in a rural location but equally it is easy to find normality, should you feel the need!!!! There is Saiinsburys and Waitrose very close by to restock on provisions.

Short break post Christmas staying with grown-up family in Owl Barn. Great accommodation, plenty of space in a unique setting. Excellent quality furnishing and fittings and lots of thoughtful details. Not very accessible as lots of steps and stairs leading to and in the barn. Saw deer in adjacent fields, buzzards aplenty and local pub is excellent for food and beer.

We stayed in Orchard cottage which was absolutely beautiful, The cottage is very spacious and luxurious down to the smallest detail. The living room with the open fire is perfect for a cosy winter evening with friends or fsmily. All of the bedrooms are kitted out to offer complete comfort and if this cottage was a hotel it would definitely be 5 star. The kitchen was perfect for cooking dinner for large parties and the dining room is great for entertaining. The surrounding grounds lead out to some wonderful countryside perfect for the keen rambler or adventuring family alike. We all had a great time at Kernock and everyone in the group said they would definitely like to return on the future.

We stayed at Orchard Cottage during November half term and were extremely impressed with both the cottage and the owner's assistance... Nothing was too much trouble! The cottage is stunning: beautiful views, gorgeous rooms and the luxuries of Egyptian cotton bed linen and white company toiletries are the icing on the cake! It was Halloween when we arrived and Beth, the cottage owner, kindly offered for our kids to trick or treat at her house, which was such a nice touch and made us feel immediately "at home". The surrounding area is lovely, very tranquil, and there are lots of places to entertain the kids, whatever the weather! We loved the fact that the owners gave us so much information about what to do, it just made everything so "easy!" . Would highly recommend these lovely cottages. Five star!!

We stayed at the barn between 29.09.12 and the 3.10.12 my wife picked the barn due to the disabled access, wet room and everything being on the ground floor as I have mobility problems. The barn was excellent. It was very clean and everything was of a very high standard. Beth the owner gave us a warm welcome and gave us many tips on places to eat and the local area. We would recommewnd it to anyone and hope to return one day.

We stayed in Heather barn. my husband is a full time wheelchair user, the cottage had all the amenities required. The en suite wet room had plenty of room and lots of handholds. The cottage was very spacious which is vital when in a chair. it is very well equipped, lovely comfortable beds and pillows.Plus bunnies to watch at play.

A beautiful peaceful retreat. I would recommend this cottage to anyone, disabled or otherwise.

Superb cottage. We stayed In Tree Barn with our 19-month old twins. Nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was very well equipped for us and the kids with high-spec kitchens and luxurious bathrooms (both bedrooms en-suite). The cottage comes with a 'magic table' filled with toys perfect for toddlers. All baby equipment we needed was provided. The owners were very friendly and so helpful. The grounds are great with climbing frames and a trampoline. And the kids loved the sheep and cows! Very peaceful location but easy to get anywhere. Would definitely recommend Kernock cottages for a family holiday and hope to go back there

A wonderful holiday cottage in a beautiful quiet setting. Very thoughtfully equipped with many extras to entertain and ensure even rainy days pass happily. The owners are lovely and are onsite if needed but discretely out of the way if not. There are many places within reach to suit all needs. We would return without a second thought.

Tree barn cottage was clean and furnished to a high standard with wonderful bathrooms especially the showers! Beth and Hugh were on site and were both helpful and approachable. They also gave you privacy. The grounds were lovely but due to the bad weather our children only really discovered this on the last day. We really appreciated the day membership to the local country club and our children enjoyed swimming there on the rainy days. There is so much to see and do locally and as National Trust members we were in our element. The local property (Cotehele) was excellent. We could not have picked a more perfect spot than the Coach House Cottage. It honestly exceeded our expectations: the cottage, the views and the welcome we received were all first class!

The house itself was just a delight, beautifully furnished, spacious,comfortable...and so well equiped! We congratulate Beth & Hugh on their tasteful restoration of the Coach House Cottage. You can't feel anything but at home there.

Just the perfect place for children: safe environment, far from any traffic. There is lots of space to run around... (Lucie and Thibault's favourite meeting point on site: the trampoline!!!)

You could not dream of better hosts: Beth and her family are wonderfully welcoming, friendly but not intrusive. They were also incredibly helpful. They helped us out by lending us not only several maps but also their camera and even their laptop!!!

We would not change a thing about the whole experience (cannot fault anything at all!) Thanks again to Beth, Hugh, Coco & Daisy for their unforgettable hospitality. We would heartily recommend staying there and meeting such a lovely family! :)

We loved staying in the Owl Barn at Kernock Cottages.

We were 2 families with 3 children under 5. The children had a great time playing in the grounds and had to be dragged away to go to the seaside which has got to be a good recommendation in its own right!!!

We stayed in Owl Barn which has got 3 bedrooms all en suite. The barn was 1st rate with excellent kitchen and sitting room. The barn was really well appointed with nice touches such as:

1. A chest full of games for the children and also the grown-ups

2. Offer of all necessary kids stuff such as stairgates, steps, bed rails etc. etc.

3. Good selection of books and CD player for exhausted parents to relax with when the kids have finally gone to bed

4. Scrummy bathrobes and White Stuff toiletaries

5. Big TV / DVD player and wireless Internet connection

6. Acres (literally) of space for everyone to run around in, trampoline for big and little kids to play on, good adventure playground and outside toys for the kids to play with.

We also made use of the swimming pool country club on a rainy afternoon to keep the kids entertained.

Overall, would definitely recommend Kernock Cottages to anyone looking for a top notch place to stay either with or without children. Just don't book it when we want to come back ourselves!!!!!

We stayed in Tree Barn for three nights in July. We had a brilliant time. The cottages are perfectly located to explore both coast and country. The cottage was clean and very welcoming. Beth and Hugh were perfect hosts. After a hectic hot day at the beaches or biking at lanhydrock we found Tree Cottage was a lovely quiet oasis to come back to. Our daughters loved the play equipment in the garden and spotting the rabbits on the lawn. I know it sounds like i'm gushing with praise but thats because we had a great time. In fact we liked it so much we'vd just booked it again!
