Cottage Review:

I recently stayed in Cob Cottage in Cornwall, which was in a great location but it lacked basics and was cheaply equipped. There was also a health and safety risk in the main bedroom - for a family with a young child I do not recommend staying here. It was not one thing that let the cottage down, it was the aggregation of many small issues: the compartment in the fridge door had been broken but never replaced; the dishwasher needed liquid; the outdoor table had a broken chair and the umbrella was missing; there were no mixing bowls; there was only one toilet roll for the week; and some of the utensils were broken. Finally, if you own a large car you will find parking very difficult. Basically, the owner was doing the bare minimum, yet was still charging a premium. We had to go shopping to make good these issues and I expected more for the price I paid. I reported these findings to Sykes. The Sykes business model means the resolution has to be between the customer and the owner (who wasn't interested); Sykes take little or no responsibility for the condition of the cottage. I do not recommend Cob Cottage unless your expectations are low; and I would not use Sykes again because of their hands off business model.

Cottage Review:

This cottage has to be the cleanest holiday let I?ve ever stayed in. It?s a real credit to the owner/cleaner. The interior has been beautifully renovated in a modern style. It is very well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. I had to contact the owner with a couple of queries (not complaints), which were dealt with promptly and courteously.

The cream tea left for us was a very welcome sight after a long journey.

I would highly recommend the cottage.

Note for dog owners: Although I didn?t take a dog on this occasion, the garden is separate from the cottage, so you can?t just open the back door and let your pet do what it needs to do!

Top tip: The lane in front of the cottage is very narrow, but there is a very convenient turning area at the end of the road

Cottage Review:

Lovely little cottage in the village of St Columb Major. Ideally located for local beaches and not too far from the main roads if you want to explore the area.

The cottage itself is beautifully restored and immaculate. Everything you could need was provided, even a washing machine! The bathroom is compact but the shower is hot and powerful.

The beds were exceptional - unbelievably comfortable!!! We experienced some of the best sleep we have had in ages due to the excellent mattresses.

Loads of information is provided by the owners so you can get out a
