Initially booked a three month stay to cover a period between our house sale and a delayed purchase but ended up staying nearly five months.

A quaint, traditionally decorated cottage in the Yorkshire countryside with lovely views and all required amenities including washing machine and drier. Very easy access to the business centres of Manchester and West Yorkshire as well as the tourist sites.

A large, well maintained garden provided hours of fun for our children through the lovely summer months as well as a supply of large variety of fresh produce. Located ideally for walking, biking and running with direct access to open countryside from the garden.

A number of lovely county pubs within walking distance with fine dining, for those who desire, within a few miles. Shopping for essentials with a couple of miles.

The owners, Stan and Elaine, are a delightful couple who went out of their way to help us in a challenging and stressful time related to our purchase.

Would happily recommend and will likely return when we undertake house renovations next year.

There are many positive things to say about Cherry Tree Cottages. We have relatives close by and have stayed at the cottages on 5 occasions. The hosts Stan and Elaine are very friendly and helpful. The amenities are ideal for a family of four.

A well equipped kitchen, good laundry facilities and heating (very necessary for Winter)and free wifi.

The Cottages are situated in an area of natural beauty. The scenery is stunning. The local town of Ripponden has several good pubs and restaurants in addition to Take Aways and also Ripponden's main store (Coop) is well stocked.

This is our 5th stay at Cherry Tree Cottages. We visit this area frequently because we have an elderly relative in Ripponden. The owners Stan and Elaine are very friendly and helpful. In the past Elaine has even taken us on one of her energetic walks. They have also supplied us with toboggans on several occasions when there was a decent snowfall. We have stayed at Cherry Tree and Heatherbank ,their other cottage, which is part of the same buildings. Both properties are ideal for a family of 4. The kitchen facilities are good and there is access to washing machines and dryers which we found essential for longer stays.

Ripponden and the surrounding area is a beautiful part of West Yorkshire. The scenery is remarkable. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants and the local well stocked store (Co-op) is only a short drive away.

We had a lovely break here this August. Both Stan and Elaine are great hosts, they made us feel very welcome but equally 'left us alone' in a nice way. The cottages are surrounded by beautiful scenery and it's only a short walk to the moors from their back garden. The cottage is clean and well equipped, you really only need to pack your clothes and food - everything else we needed was there.

We stayed in Heather Bank Cottage, what a wonderful place. Extremely well looked after by its owners, on arrival very pleasing in its location. On entering the cottage it gives you a great sense of warmth and relaxation. Very clean through out with all amenities. The back drop and garden are beautiful and open to some amazing country side. We did not want to leave thank you.

Heatherbank has been our home for a week, but I could happily have stayed indefinitely. Our dog, Phoebe, had the time of her life....coming from the confines of a city....and romped on Norland moor with boundless energy. The cottage is ideal for dogs, with the shady garden accessible at all times, leading to the upper gardens, and superb views over the valley. A lane leads to ball-throwing fields and heather-covered moorland, full of bilberries and blackberries. The whole area is a paradise for walkers and dogs, and the cottage a perfect retreat at the end of a long day, thoughtfully equipped, and including wifi for planning your next day out! Last, but most importantly, Elaine and Stan made us welcome, force-fed us an endless supply of strawberries, and shared maps, books and enthusiasm for life abundantly with us. This was an exceptional holiday and we would unreservedly recommend staying at Cherry Tree Cottages.

Cottage Review:

We recently returned to Yorkshire with our two children to re-live a childhood spent in the fantastic countryside surrounding Cherry Tree Cottages. We were overwhelmed by the beauty of the gardens and field belonging to the Cottages and truly grateful for the generosity of Stan and Elaine in allowing our two excited children to make full use of it! There are rocks to climb, hillside to roll down, a rope swing to play on and on the top garden, an acre of field to run wild in (should you so desire!)On top of that there are moors and woodland to explore directly behind the gardens. Stan and Elaine provide a wealth of information regarding the various walks across the Moors and surrounding areas and were very happy to recommend walks that they thought would suit our needs.

The cottage itself was also perfect for our needs. The children especially loved sleeping in the sofa bed and having direct access to the gardens. We enjoyed having an open living area that overlooks the beautiful gardens (enabling us to watch our two monkeys swinging on the rope swing!) Everything was ready for us on our arrival- including a wealth of fluffy towels and a selection of tea and coffee to welcome us. We are all looking forward to the opportunity of staying again very soon.

We stayed in this cottage for a week. It was clean and comfortable and had everything necessary for 3 adults - and a beautiful view across the Yorkshire countryside. Lovely cottage, in a fine location, with very helpful owners (next door), and a warm welcome. Excellent for our dog, too.

A bit difficult to get out (with a car), as the road is fast and you can't see a thing without stepping onto the highway! Otherwise, very happy with everything, and hope to come back soon.

We holidayed here at the beginning of August for 3 nights. Stan and Elaine are friendly, hospitable hosts and the cottage is beautiful. Excellent location, just big enough for 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs - although I don't know whether I'd stay for longer as the children had the bedroom and us adults had the sofabed. Unbelievably clean - bearing in mind they accomodate pets - it was spotless! The children loved the beautiful garden and having the moors just on your doorstep is fantastic. The dogs walked until they couldn't walk anymore. The kitchen is fully equipped to cater for a families needs - all the facilities were lovely. Lovely pub/restaurant within walking distance and not too pricey. A good location for exploring further afield if you have a car too. We enjoyed it so much we're planning a return trip.

This is a great little cottage in the middle of Calderdale between Halifax & Huddersfield on top of the hills near Barkisland. The front room has a fantastic view across the valley to Stainland and up to Scamondem Dam. With just one 'not quite teenager' this was ideal but would also suite a family with 2 smaller children. Good wash facilities in the cellar but the kitchen is a bit small and limiting. This is a really good location for visiting or exploring this part of Yorkshire. Be very careful of the blind exit by car and have someone of the opposite side of the road checking for traffic - cars come along fast.

All in all, a really enjoyable and restful stay - we will be back!

Cottage Review:

We stayed for one week and hired both cottages - Cherry Tree and Heatherbank. We have nothing but good things to say about the cottages and the location. It was ideal for us as we had My Mum and Aunty stay in Heatherbank with the two twin beds and then my husband & I and our 7 month old baby stayed in Cherry Tree. we ate all our meals together as a family in Heatherbank as the kitchen and living room were bigger and a better layout for entertaining. Then for quiet time with our baby the living room in Cherry Tree was lovely with \'fantastic\' views. The heating in both cottages is great and they are both equipped with everything you would need, even down to a baking dish to cook a roast dinner. There is a \'mini mart\' just down the road for any essentials such as bread and milk and we especially liked the farm shop down the hill for extravagant bits like local icecream, cheese and anything you would need for a nice dinner in. Thanks to Stan and Elaine for welcoming us, we had a great time exploring North Yorkshire.

Make up of party:  Heatherbank is really only suitable for two people. Then the Cherry Tree cottage at the front of the property has a double bed in one room and bunk beds (2xsingle beds) in the second room. We also had enough room in our double room for our baby in his travel cot.

We stayed in Cherry Tree Cottage for a short break while visiting our son in Sowerby Bridge. The view from the cottage was beautiful and Stan and Elaine gave us a warm welcome. Beds were comfortable and the cottage was well equipped. We were invited to share the lovely garden which gave access to the moorland above. We visited the Huddersfield narrow canal at Standedge tunnel, Hardcastle Crags at Hebden Bridge, the Red House and Oakwell Country park. We ventured over the Pennines to the lake at Littleborough. We enjoyed our stay, and would recommend the cottage to others. We also appreciated the 'short break' option.

Just returned from a fantastic few days in Cherry Tree Cottage. The accomodation was excellent-just what we wanted and the walking was fantastic-unusually we managed to tire our 10 month old Cocker Spaniel. Close enough to Leeds to visit our family regularly.Do try the nearby Farmshop-the pastries are scrummy.

I stayed in the rear cottage for five nights during an extended business visit to Copley. This made a very pleasant change from hotels that can be impersonal at times.

The owners were very welcoming and helpful throughout, with an excellent knowledge of the local area. The cottage was well-equipped and had everything I needed. Everything was spotlessly clean and towels and linen were of good quality. I was not disturbed at all by traffic noise.

I would not hesitate to stay in Heather Bank Cottage for a future business or family visit

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to see family with the added luxury of our own cottage getaway. I was a bit nervous about how things would work, since I have never booked anything over the internet, but Stan and Elaine were so helpful in answering all questions before and after our arrival that it all went well. Having such a beautiful setting and comfortable, clean and user friendly accommodations made all the difference. The view from the front window was amazing, and although it took some time to get used to the road noise initially, the windows tempered the volume well.

We live locally and were placed here by our insurance company while our house was fixed. The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed and lots of extras that made all the difference. We felt very welcomed by the owners and they made it clear they were available should we need them. The cottage was very clean from the carpets to the cutlery! The garden was fantastic and the kids loved the newts in the pond. It was a shame we were still working and doing the school run and not actually staying on holiday!! Would recommend to anyone.

We had a fantastic week in Yorkshire. The cottage was equipped with anything we needed and Stan and Elaine assisted with anything else - extra bed for the kid wherever he wanted to sleep, maps, recommendations for pubs, walks, things to do etc. Our son (3 years) and we as well enjoyed the wonderful garden with rocks, trees, woods and he loved to play with the cats. The landscape all around is fantastic and there are plenty of things to do for anyone who likes to go for walks, to go running or biking. Families will have a wonderful and active holiday surrounded by friendly people. Thanks a lot to Stan and Elaine for the wonderful time!

Very comfortable, well-equipped cottage, simply furnished, no fuss. Exactly to our taste. Friendly, helpful owners. Pleasant location with plenty of good walking country on the doorstep. It's difficult to find anything to criticise, so I won't! Although the road is by no means busy, we were pleased to have the quietest cottage at the back of the house. Our mobile signal was erratic, but Elaine and Stan immediately helped out in a minor family crisis by lending us their home phone. The nearby pub has an excellent choice of good beers and a comprehensive food menu.

This was our second trip away with the dog. Sadly, the priority was him.

Not much of a view from the cottage, but 15 seconds from the door and the views were stunning. A huge two acre garden on top of the hill, that we all enjoyed and then a short walk up a little used track and you are on the moors. Elaine and Stan were a mine of information about local walks.

If you are going on a break with a dog and want easy access to lovely walks, this is one to consider.

Owners next door very warm and friendly, cottage over looks fantastic garden which the children loved. Beautiful views plus great things to do near by, a great spot.
