Brown Hare Shepherds Hut, Crickie Farm, Talgarth Road, Llangorse, Brecon, Powys, LD3 7TU

Description of the holiday cottage

Brown Hare Shepherds Hut is a traditional shepherd’s hut in Llangorse, Powys, sleeping up to two guests. Set at Shepherd’s Retreat Wales on a working Breconshire farm, it is a compact glamping stay for couples, two friends or dog owners looking for a rural break close to Llangorse Lake, the Black Mountains and Bannau Brycheiniog National Park.

The hut has a fitted double bed with storage beneath, along with indoor seating, a small dining area and a woodburning stove. It is designed for a simple countryside escape rather than a full cottage style stay, so guests should expect a more compact layout with shared site facilities nearby.

Guests have use of a communal kitchen for preparing basic meals and shared bathroom facilities close to the hut. There is also outdoor seating and barbecue access, giving visitors space to eat outside, sit under the dark skies and enjoy the rural setting. The shared enclosed garden area is useful for guests staying with dogs, although the latest pet rules and site arrangements should be checked before booking.

The location is one of the main reasons to consider Brown Hare Shepherds Hut. Llangorse Lake is nearby and is known for waterside walks, fishing and outdoor activities. Llangorse Multi Activity Centre is also close by for climbing, riding, zip lining and other activities. Brecon is approximately 7.3 miles away for shops, cafés, pubs, the canal, Brecon Cathedral and local history.

Guests can also explore the wider Brecon Beacons area, including Pen y Fan, Sugar Loaf, the Black Mountains, Hay on Wye, Talgarth and Builth Wells. This makes the hut a useful base for walking, cycling, stargazing, countryside drives and relaxed rural days out.

Two dogs are welcome, although guests should check the latest dog rules before booking, including any charges, lead requirements and how the shared garden works with other guests. Brown Hare Shepherds Hut can also be booked alongside other huts or caravans at Shepherd’s Retreat Wales, subject to availability, if friends or family want to stay nearby. Before arranging a stay, it is worth checking the latest prices, availability, shared facility details, parking arrangements, dog rules, review scores and booking terms through the cottage provider, as these can change throughout the year.

What Was Glamping at Brown Hare Shepherds Hut Like?

A review of Brown Hare Shepherds Hut can be especially helpful because shepherd’s huts are more compact than standard cottages, and shared facilities can make a big difference to the stay. If you have visited, share what you thought of the bed, storage, woodburning stove, shared kitchen, bathroom facilities, outdoor seating, barbecue, parking and dog friendly setup. It is also useful to mention the farm setting, dark skies, nearby walks, Llangorse Lake, Brecon and how easy it was to explore Bannau Brycheiniog, so future guests can decide whether this rural glamping break is right for them.
