| Cottage Review:
We booked this cottage through Sykes Holiday Cottage at a cost of over £150 per day. This is quite a nice holiday cottage, it has a homely feel to it with a nice lounge, dining room, and bathroom, bedrooms all with clean linen and nice big towels. We found the double bed to be very uncomfortable, it felt like laying on a bed of springs with little padding, also the mattress sloped down on the bedroom door side, the effect of gravity made it impossible to get a good nights sleep here. For the price paid I would have expected to get a good nights sleep. In addition to this issue there were other concerns, the pedal bin lid in the kitchen was broken, the bathroom extractor fan was not working, the hob ignition button was absent making it difficult to use, the drawer in the freezer broken, sharp, and dirty, the oven in need of a professional clean, some utensils were not clean. I did politely complain to the owner via Sykes Holiday Cottage asking for some proportionate recompense but they declined to make any offer to put things right. They just said the mattress was fine and made no mention of all the other problems we encountered at the cottage. I would not feel comfortable in recommending this cottage to other people and will definately not be returning. |
