A traditional Cornish cottage decorated to a high standard and retaining many of its original features. Located on West Street and within yards of the quay, beach and pubs, Anchor Two occupies a prime village location giving all front rooms panoramic views of Fowey and the river estuary.Best Features
Anchor Two has a wealth of features from the original stone floor in the passage and wide planked floors in the main rooms to the original pine doors and bow fronted glass display cupboards which echo the traditional boat building skills of the area. A wood burning stove is a more recent addition and makes Anchor Two warm and cosy all year. Easy access to the coast path and river estuary provide walks of varying distances and degrees of difficulty while the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, numerous National Trust properties, Bodmin Moor, local picturesque villages and many other area attractions provide ample choice for day trips. The cottage has one double bedroom, one bathroom, lounge with a dining table by the window and a kitchen with fridge, ceramic hob, oven, microwave and washing machine. Anchor Two, for two.

| Cottage Review:
Anchor Two was exactly what we'd expected. (To be fair we'd spoken to the then occupier and peeped through the window on a previous visit to the village). Clean, nicely decorated and still with many original features it's what you'd expect from a traditional Cornish cottage. I felt a little 'on display' when eating at the dining table by the window but the view was well worth it. Large bathroom and a good sized bedroom with terrific views across the river while you're eating breakfast in bed. The cottage has an amazing wood burning stove which easily heats the whole cottage and probably the neighbouring cottages as well! (Logs can be bought in the local grocers) Polruan is an excellent example of an unspoilt Cornish fishing village. Life is very laid back and seems to revolve around the quay and local pubs. The narrow vehicular access is worrying when you're in the driving seat but it's quickly forgotten and very much appreciated when you're out and about on foot. Plenty of coastal walks, the coastal path goes past the front door, and good walks to Bodinnick and through Fowey via the ferry. Polruan was also a pretty good base to see other local places of interest and we found that the north coast was a lot nearer than we originally thought although this was off-season. Hopefully we'll be back in the spring - if not this year then certainly next. |
