From the moment we arrived to a warm welcome from owners Vicki and Steve and an array of delicious cakes, till the moment we left, our visit exceeded our already high expectations. The rooms were beautifully furnished, we loved the themed bedrooms, and warm and cosy even after a very frosty night. The kitchen was very well equipped and absolutely everything we needed was provided. The log burner was a lovely feature in the comfortable lounge and so easy to use. Our family group was aged 2 to 88 so we made good use of the playroom and excellent games room as well as the stunning location. The 2 year old loved visiting the alpacas and collecting eggs from the hens. We had an amazing weekend that could not be faulted.

We have holidayed together as a group of 5 families for more than 10 years now. As our children grow older we are left with fewer of them. Last February we visited Holestone Moor for the first time and enjoyed every minute of it even though we were snowed in for most of the visit. We booked to return this February and once again had a thoroughly enjoyable time. All previous reviewers' wonderful comments are echoed by us. Any Real Ale lovers should visit the nearby Ashover. Even non-ramblers should bring some boots and have a wander around. If you are eating in, get Tesco to do a home delivery, there's a good kitchen with lots of equipment. Fire any questions you have at Vicki - she is more than helpful and quick to reply by email.

We arrived to a very warm welcome from Vicki and Steve who made us feel right at home. The cottage was warm, cosy and beautifully decorated for Christmas with thoughtful little extras such as crackers and a truly scrumptious cake from the local farm shop (well worth a visit). The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything you could wish for, from comfy beds and exceptionally well equipped kitchen to a lovely log fire. Children are very well catered for with a play area and games room and lots of animals to see including the comical, if somewhat aloof, alpacas.

The cottage is set in beautiful Derbyshire with lots of pretty villages and bustling market towns within easy driving distance. A visit to Chatsworth House and farm shop is a must. But the best way to see the countryside is to put on your walking boots. There are gentle walks around the cottage but, for the energetic, the views from the top of Mam Tor, High Tor and the Heights of Abraham are well worth the effort. We would like to thank Vicki and Steve for making our Christmas so unforgettable and would recommend the cottage to everyone. VISIT SOON YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

We've just had our third and [not] final visit at Holestone Moor Barns.

We initially found it through Premier Cottages after sending for their brochure. The main marketing photo put us off at first - we thought we'd never get anywhere THAT nice. But after revisiting and looking at the HMBarns website we booked for a week in The Stables.

First impressions last, and I can still remember the first moment we landed. After a troubled journey the fantastic welcome from the hosts, Vicki & Steve, was very warm, relaxing, and made us feel like we could leave the road behind before even getting out of the car.

From our first visit with our only-just one year old we've been hooked for the boomerang holidays (just keep coming back...). Vicki and Steve are very welcoming towards our little whirlwind, and they have provided travel cots & high chairs, plus a games room with toys for kids of all ages. No to mention the variety of outdoor stuff - the climbing frame (a labour of Steve's love), the pond teaming with wildlife, the animals, the woods, the meadow with wild flowers - plenty for every exploring mind to enjoy, right on site. If that really isn't enough the location is ideal, too. An hour from Alton Towers, 15 minutes from Gulliver's Kingdom, 2 seconds from fresh air, a million miles away from the stresses of work.

We have been with friends and on our own, and found it equally relaxing. Small groups, big groups - flexibility with the two cottages being available separately or together, the larger having dining space enough for both cottages - well planned!

From a family perspective there are multiple reasons to stay here: The location is superb. The accommodation is fantastic. And the hosts are just amazing people.

A group of ladies 8/9 of us have been visiting Holestone Moor Barn since 2004 for a long weekend each Spring, The Barn is so comfortable, so cosy in the colder weather, lovely log fire spotlessly clean, and very well equipped. Vicki and Steve are always so welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We love the themed bedrooms with adorable cuddly animals and lovely fluffy towels sitting on all our beds along with complimentary toiletries in all the bathrooms. We all enjoy the time to chill out, pamper ourselves and relax in wonderful surroundings, in our fantastic Derbyshire. Every year we say it will be our last, we must have a change, but the trouble is we cannot find anywhere as good, so we just keep returning, and enjoy ourselves more each year !! - Try it, I am sure you will agree. It’s a great place for everyone.
