Whitelady house is a wonderful , welcoming home , very relaxing with every thing one could ask for even down to the extras you would find in a hotel ! Shower caps too !!

Plenty of outside space for little children to run around and play , with Table tennis for the older ones and croquet too .

Make up of party:  We were 4 families coming together for half term so the Grand parents could be with the daughters and son in laws and their children . We were a party of 12 .

Fantastic house! We went with our extended family for 5 days to celebrate our 50th Birthdays and it couldn't have been better. The house is beautifully decorated, very comfortable and extremely well-equipped, for whatever you want to do!

It is so handy for the beautiful Lydford Gorge & for the moors that you really don't need to take the car out, and with the croquet, table tennis, Wii, loads of games, we easily amused ourselves when we weren't out and about. And for relaxation there's the lovely hot tub.

We had a catered birthday celebration meal which was superb. It was overall definitely a place at which good memories are made, and we are all trying to think of an excuse to return! Oh, and mustn't forget the yummy cakes left for us on our arrival - we weren't expecting that as we were self-catering, a lovely touch.

My family and I visited White Lady House for a special 60th Birthday celebration.

The house is truly beautiful and exceeded all expectations. The interior is decorated to perfection, yet maintains a homely feel and the grounds are perfectly maintained.

The house has many beautiful walks on it's doorstep and catered perfectly for a large family ranging from 6 to 64!

Carol kindly catered for the adults on the Saturday evening and the food and service were both impeccable. We were thoroughly looked after throughout the evening and came down to a spotless kitchen the next morning.

We cannot thank Carol enough for providing such a wonderful house for a very special and memorable weekend.

I was looking for somewhere special to stay with some friends to celebrate my 40th and this beautiful house was spot on! I researched many places, but this was the one that I kept coming back to. We had fantastic communication with the owner (nothing was ever a bother and they were willing to help us make plans / arrange activities etc), a lovely warm welcome on our arrival (delicious homemade cakes, tea / coffee, champagne in the fridge) – what more could we want? Each and every room was beautifully decorated, the house was just stunning! We were a party of 10, 5 couples, diplomatically, we put the couples names in a hat to decide rooms, and I don’t think any of us were disappointed! All the rooms are spacious – having viewed pictures on-line I was surprised that the room were BIGGER than I thought! The entire house is very well equipped – from an entertainment point of view (wii, board games, tv, ipod docking station, books) right through to catering (large american fridge/freezer, hobs, aga, normal oven, steam oven, a large selection of cook books). There was an option to be catered for, which if we have the opportunity to return again, we may well consider! The location is fabulous, nicely tucked away – perfect for our weekend retreat! We did walk down to the Falls, however, with the time of year, quite rightly we could not venture all around the National Trust walk. I would love to return to this gorgeous house at some point in the future - perfect for any time of year, no matter what the weather – I could go on and on about how wonderful it is – but really I’d like to keep it a hidden gem!

Lovely house! I’m desperately trying to think up an excuse to go there again. Ticks all the boxes: spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated; excellent location (very quiet, and only a few minutes’ walk from Dartmoor, but also within easy reach of Tavistock). The house itself is well laid out, with plenty of space for wet & muddy boots & coats as well as two comfortable sitting rooms (well away from the muddy coats). Fabulous kitchen: generously equipped in terms of ovens etc. (two fridges, an Aga, an ordinary oven, a steam oven….); store cupboard with plenty of basics (very rare on a self-catering rental, I’ve found); plus a collection of good cookery books. The dining room has a beautiful polished wooden table and a candelabra.

I’ve stayed there twice now. The first time we were fully self-catering, yet on arrival we found three homemade cakes waiting to greet us in the dining room, and some local cheeses in the fridge. The second time we took the semi-catered option: the owner provided us with three dishes (each serving 12) to heat and serve. All three were delicious, reasonably priced and very generous in portion size. On learning that I was trying to choose gluten-free options to accommodate one of our party, a separate single portion gluten-free meal was offered and provided at no extra cost, allowing the rest of us to enjoy a traditional chicken pie. (We still got the cakes on arrival, too.)

The owner is generally extremely helpful and accommodating and will do what she can to make your stay enjoyable. Possibly best of all, there was none of that “how much cleaning do you think we should we do before we leave?” anxiety. Cleaners come in as soon as you go; you can just walk out as if it were a hotel. Fabulous!

It was worth every penny. The children found plenty to occupy them (including a table-tennis table), the adults found it very comfortable and the kitchen made cooking a joy. Very highly recommended.

Whitelady is a really beautiful property in a fantastic location with good access to Dartmoor. Although a very high spec house it very homely and comfortable, with added extra's including a hot tub. We found it very useful that we could get a bus into Tavistock from nearby. We have stayed here more than once found the location very peaceful with very nice pub serving good food in Lydford. We would definately go again. We spent a lovely 5 days at WhiteLady House celebrating birthdays and having all of the family together. It was a perfect setting, providing plenty of space for the 11 of us staying and for others to pop in to see us. There was lots to do for all ages and interests - visiting local sites and towns, walking on Dartmoor and along Lydford Gorge, and relaxing in the hot tub or in the garden.

We had a lovely catered birthday dinner for 14 which was arranged for us by Carol (the owner of the house) which was a perfect treat! Would definitely recommend.

An extended family holiday. The house was amazing, truly surpassed all our expectations. Plenty of space to loose the children, both inside an out. The facilities were extremely impressive. It was a real treat to sleep in luxurious bedding. The hot tub was an added bonus. Carol was a true gem..sourcing horse riding to arranging a game of Croquet. Would most defiantly re visit with and without the kids.

Make up of party:  Perfect for all types of occasions, family holidays, Grils weekend away, to just a couple!!

My girlfriends organised a surprise birthday party for me at Whitelady. The house is magnificent, but manages to still exude a friendly and comfortable home atmosphere. The bedrooms are stunning as is the fabulous dining room together with two gorgeous lounges. Carol the owner did all our shopping and cooked our evening meals, they were yummy. The surrounding countryside is spectacular and we loved our visit to Lydford Gorge. All in all a memorable stay and for all the right reasons. Fabulous venue, amazing countryside, great shopping in the market town of Tavistock and a warm, welcoming fantastic cook in the owner.
