Cottage Review:

After a tiring 8hr drive down the M5 from Bradford we were greeted with open arms by Kate and Roger the owners of the Long Linhay and instantly felt at home.

As soon as we were shown around by Kate we were incredibly impressed - the cottage is absolutely beautiful, clean and modern with a private courtyard and all the mod cons you could think of so we couldn't wait to get our first visit to North Devon underway. The sea view from the kitchen barn door was incredible to experience every day with our morning brew and Kate and Roger were always on hand to offer advice about where to go around North Devon which is absolutely stunning.

Our party consisted of two adults (one with a disability) and one child aged 8 and everything was simply perfect, the hosts were incredibly helpful with arranging delivery of medical equipment which really added to the holiday experience.

We visited Ilfracombe Harbour, Watermouth Castle, Woolacombe Beach, Lee Bay, Barricane Beach and Saunton Sands which were all within a short 10-15 min drive so the Long Linhay at Yarde Farm is ideally located for those who wish to get out and about and experience all that North Devon has to offer.

Every place we visited was incredibly scenic, clean and breathtaking to experience, the locals were also very friendly and helpful too which further added to the holiday. Local food was excellent and always cooked to a high standard, the Sri Lankan curries on Barricane Beach and Squires fish and chips in Braunton are simply outstanding and highly recommended should you visit!

All in all, The Long Linhay gets 10/10 - it really is a lovely place to stay and we will DEFINITELY be back next year, Kate and Roger are the perfect hosts.

After a long and tiring journey from Derbyshire we were met at Long Linhay by one of the owners, Roger. He showed us around the cottage and pointed out all the necessary details like how to work the TV etc. He then showed us a lovely cream tea in the fridge that his partner Kate had put there for us. What a welcome!! The cottage itself is a delight, beautifully appointed, superbly comfortable King Size bed and a bathroom that anyone would be proud of. The kitchen is fitted out to a very high standard and the large lounge, with its wood burning stove, is extremely comfortable. Kate and Roger provide everything you need, except your food of course, for an easy relaxed stay. We were on a two centre holiday and when it was time to leave for the second location we really didn't want to go. This place is a real home from home and we will surely return.

This is a 5 star property in our opinion. It is extremely clean, well equipped and furnishings are of a high standard. We really didn't want to leave after a week. The patio area is large and a real suntrap- enabling us to sit out in March when the sun was shining on the very comfortable recliners! We just loved everything about it- the area it is in,walks from the door, a short walk to the village- all make it a break where you could park up for the week and not use the car if you wished. Kate and Roger are friendly owners who seem to genuinely want you to enjoy their property.

This is the best holiday cottage we have stayed in. It is beautifully furnished and equipped by Kate and Roger who provide a personal and warm welcome. The cottage has views of the coast and gives easy access to the network of footpaths around Mortehoe and Lee Bay. The cottage is in a quiet location with a secluded patio garden. The wood-burner is lovely for cooler evenings. The provision of WiFi is a nice feature. We will definitely be coming again.

What a fabulous experience our holiday was. We were given a warm welcome by Kate and Roger and were given the most wonderful cream tea. The cottage is excellently equipped, tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished. It was lovely to see the most stunning views and have peace and quiet except for the wonderful sound of the birds singing.

A short walk from the village, we found The Chichester Arms to serve the best pub grub we had had in ages.

We are definitely looking forward to staying again this year.

The care that Kate and Roger have put into the renovation, furnishings and upkeep of the Long Linhay combine to make it the perfect holiday home. Quiet, tastfully furnished and very well equipped nothing has been overlooked.

Easy, and more challenging, country and coastal walks start at the Linhay. There are excellent beaches nearby, as are bus routes to Woolacombe, Ilfracombe and Barnstaple.

A fantastic property! The Long Linhay is furnished to a very high standard with everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible! The location is great with beautiful, breath-taking views. It is also situated within walking distance to Mortehoe village. The hosts Kate and Roger are very welcoming - nothing is too much trouble. We had a fantastic holiday - myself, my husband and 12 year old son. We are definitely going to return again. Seriously, the pictures and reviews do not do it enough justice - you need to visit!!!

Absolutely Fabulous!! This must be one of the best hide aways in NW Devon for 2 or 3. Whether as a jump off point to explore the surrounding countryside or become a total recluse for the period of your stay. The brochure is an understatement in all areas. You will not be dissapointed.

After spending the most wonderful family holiday at Yarde Farm in September, I couldn't wait to return. Taking a break with a friend we asked Kate and Roger if they could accommodate us at The Long Linhay. What a fabulous hideaway - every room has that "wow" factor, being equipped (even binoculars to watch the birds) and furnished to a very high standard and squeakly clean. We walked during the day, returning to sit in the garden to soak up the last of the sun and then curled up on the sofas in front of the log fire with a glass of wine - perfect. Then to a restful night's sleep in the most comfortable beds. The area is stunningly beautiful with no need to use the car, just amble through the back yard to Mortehoe Village or along the coast. Kate and Roger have once again provided a beautiful holiday home - there should be a rating higher than exceptional - perhaps "the place you dream of". I can't wait to return.

Having just spent 3 glorious days at Long Linhay, just a short walk from the friendly, well serviced village of Mortehoe, I must write to thoroughly recommend this idylic place for a peaceful and very comfortable holiday. The facilities of Long Linhay are indeed superb and make your holiday so relaxing and effortless. A truly wonderful time was had - the log burning fire and extremely efficient central heating system helped make our time at Long Linhay so, so comfortable - The beds especially! Best nights\' sleep I have had in a long time. Kate and Roger were so very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I came with my friend who had visited twice before with her family to Yarde (the larger property on the same site) so she knew it would be great. It does not disappoint! We enjoyed the lovely walks and beaches in this area of outstanding natural beauty. Long Linhay is also of outstanding quality and beauty and I wish Kate and Roger many more discerning vistors and every success they richly deserve for the love and hard work they have put into this cottage. I will certainly be returning.

A stunning property with fabulous views. from the warm greeting from the owners, until your departure, you could not wish for anything more. Extremely spacious with quality modern fittings, but in a traditional style. The courtyard/patio is vast, and makes a wonderful private sun trap.

Lovely walks abound and there are some individual pubs in the village.

A great place to escape to.

Before we arrived at the Linhay we must have stopped the car 3 times just to take in the stunning views surrounding Yarde Farm.

The linhay is gorgeous, the kitchen is immaculate with every appliance available for you to self cater, the lounge is really cosy with leather sofas and a wood burning stove, the bathroom is luxurious and the bedroom is beautifully decorated with lots of storage space and loads of coat hangers! The bed is the most comfy bed I have ever slept in.

Kate and Roger are the most perfect hosts and helped us find some lovely restaurants, beaches and walks. This really is the best self catering holiday home I have ever had the pleasure of staying in, I can't wait to go back there.

Our first conversation around the farmhouse kitchen table at Yarde while tucking into tea and homemade cake provided by our hosts Roger and Kate began something like this: ‘We thought you could stay in the Long Linhay and the rest of us draw straws for the rooms in here.’ After having a sneak peek around Yarde Farm, with its immaculate bedrooms, luxurious bathroom and wet room and cosy lounge and dining room complete with open fires, my husband and I felt like we’d drawn the short straw already. How wrong could we have been. The Long Linhay complements Yarde perfectly - modern kitchen, comfortable bedroom, separate bathroom and cosy sitting room with log burning fire and the added bonus of sweeping views of the valley and sea beyond from the large sun terrace. Built last year using locally sourced materials, the Long Linhay works in perfect harmony with the area’s breathtakingly rugged landscape and has clearly been a labour of love. If you’re looking for a romantic hideaway, a good quality base for a walking holiday or to take it over with Yarde as a group booking, as we did, I would highly recommend it. It's much larger than your average accommodation for two and head and shoulders above the competition. I for one can't wait to return again out of season to sit by the cosy fire looking out of the window at the sky full of stars, enjoy a private viewing of the stunning sunset on Barricane Beach and take the coastal walk to Lee Bay for a hearty lunch at The Grampus.
