Description of the cottage holiday

The Bothy holiday cottage in Manaton on Dartrmoor in Devon is a 2 bedroom stone built holiday home that sleeps 4 people and is dog friendly. The Bothy is fantastically siuated as a holiday home just three hundred yards from the good food pub at Manaton, on a hedgerow-sheltered lane leading to the high moors, a detached cottage beautifully converted from an old barn. It has all the benefits of modern insulation and underfloor heating with the charm of ancient stonework. To one side of The Bothy in Manaton there is a cobbled courtyard with a table and chairs and opposite, over the little lane, steps up to big, gently sloping garden (picnic table/chairs) with space for ball games or quiet reflection. Fourteen acres of woods and fields to explore (following the country code, dogs not permitted where livestock grazing); Hayne Brook runs beside the paddocks, perfect for Pooh sticks. There are six steps up to the front door to the hall at The Bothy with coats-cupboard; utility room (washing machine, tumble drier, loo); spacious open-plan living/dining/kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, freezer, hand-crafted cupboards, granite worktops) with slate and oak floor, woodburner, TV/DVD, big feather sofa and glazed door to courtyard. Open tread stairs up to two bedrooms including a double with balustrade and en suite shower-room (suite), and another double (5' zip-linked bed or 2'6" twins) with en suite bathroom (suite plus hand-shower). DIY stabling and shooting (clays), by arrangement (extra). The Bothy is a top quality cottage within walking distance of the open moor; fine walks from the doorstep.
