We had the most relaxing and enjoyable stay in Graham Cottage.. The cottage was beautifully clean and light and airy. We had fantastic views of the surrounding countryside just by looking out of the windows. Wildlife was also very visible i.e. hares and pheasant plus loads of birds. My husband used the farm walks everyday and thoroughly enjoyed reporting back to me all he had seen. We opted for a quiet relaxing holiday and so the the beautiful surrounding villages and the sight of so many red kites fulfilled that wis, The Barn at Waddenhoe is a lovely tea room with very friendly staff and Waitrose in Oundle provided all our shopping needs plus super coffee!. Thank you to Harriet for all her help. We sincerely hope to return next year.

What a fantastic holiday cottage, we all settled in very quickly. A most wonderful welcome pack and spotless accommodation and thanks Harriet nothing too much trouble when asking questions. Would certainly recommend this tranquil location and only just down the road where we live. Asked if my father would manage as he had a stroke four years ago, he did really well.

Gale force winds all week and do you know what - it didn’t matter one bit. The cottage was very roomy, comfortable and clean - a real home from home. The welcome pack was the best we’ve ever had by a country mile and the host was very welcoming. Despite the aforementioned weather we had a great time exploring the area - even at this time of year there were lots of things to do and we plan coming back to explore even more - you’re spoilt for choice in this woefully underrated area.

The cottages were everything we wanted - beautifully furnished, clean and extremely well equipped. We were lucky to have exceptional February weather and were able to enjoy sitting outside and walking around the farmland surrounding the cottages. It is amazingly quiet and there was so much wildlife, we saw hares and red kites and evidence of badgers. We are thinking of coming again as we enjoyed our stay so much.

Make up of party:  We stayed in 2 of the cottages, Graham and Len, as a family party ranging from a 25 year old to my 90 year old father.

Fantastic accommodation. Comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, lovely extra touches like fresh flowers, bread, local meat and plenty of tea and coffee provided. Country walks on your doorstep and the sunsets are stunning. Peaceful location. Oundle village was lovely. Hosts great. Our family of 2 adults and 2 children loved it here and would love to return.

We stayed in Alice cottage for a week to explore the area. A superb location, a number of areas are within an hour’s drive including Ely cathedral, NT places like Wicken Fen. We also went to Huntingdon races and Oundle is a beautiful little town with everything you need.

The cottage was beautifully appointed, separate kitchen and sitting room which you don’t always get in smaller properties. Lovely welcome back including milk, wine, bread and all essentials. Don’t forget to look in the freezer for the locally produced sausages and bacon!

Another highlight was the ability to run / walk on the farm tracks. You never need Tovar’s go on the roads if you don’t want to. And what a sunset! South facing vista was incredible. A superb week’s holiday. Getting away from it all but still with a WiFi signal! Perfect

We loved our stay in Alice Cottage. Without wanting to gush, it was probably 'the' nicest self catering accommodation we have ever found ourselves in. Beautifully decorated, having separate kitchen to sitting room, comfortable sofa, bed, everything thought of. Big thumbs up. This was the most beautiful home-from-home for our working week in nearby Fotheringhay.

Excellent cottages near Kettering

A very well thought out Len cottage with everything you could wish for in a holiday let. The cottage was like home from home, very clean and with comfortable beds and sofas. It has beautifull views and countryside from patio doors leading out to the well kept gardens across the farmers fields. This was our second visit and will definitely be returning. Harriet is a lovely host who welcomed us on arrival. The location is great too with Peterborough and Cambridge a short drive away along with many places to explore like Nene Valley Railway.

A hidden gem

I’ve stayed here a few times and each time I’m amazed by the peace and quiet. It’s instant relaxation! The views across the fields are beautiful, you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere! But the best thing is that you’re not. There’s loads to do from quaint village pubs, beautiful market towns like Oundle or cities like Peterborough and Cambridge not too far away! The beautiful river nene is very close for fishing, canoeing or walks in the countryside. The cottage is very tastefully decorated, the kitchen has everything! The patio doors lead to a lovely garden, excellent for an evening glass of wine after a busy day exploring!!

We have holidayed at Nene Valley Cottages (NVC) many times since 2008. Normally we choose cosy 'Graham' but sometimes spacious 'Len'. We enjoy heritage holidays (National Trust, Historic Houses, English Heritage, etc) and for these NVC are exceptionally placed being 10 mins from the A14 (west-east) and 20 mins from the A1 (north-south) so well placed to explore many counties and their many attractions. The region itself is unspoiled England at its absolute best with undulating countryside and charming historic towns such as Oundle, Stamford and Oakham. The cottages are truly a 'home from home', beautifully warm and comfortable and well equipped, and always a delight to return to at the end of the day. A few attractions within 45 mins - 60 mins drive include: Althorp House, Burghley House, Barnsdale Gardens, IWM Duxford, Wimpole Hall, Woburn Abbey (and Safari Park), Wrest Park - there are so many!
