This is the most recent review about Nantcol.

\"A place of extremes and absolutes. The solid black wall of darkness and night; the stunning view that, with dawn, stretches the roar of the wind and the hammer of the silence broken only by the chaffinches or field pipit or raven. The history the permanence and persistence to the change, the fragility of life so much...So much to be thankful for, the cottage, the place the time and the people. Thank you indeed for giving us such a wonderful place for a family holiday.

The following review was written about Nantcol by guests in April this year.

Nantcol: a place of extremes and absolutes. The solid black wall of darkness and night; the stunning view with dawn; the roar of the wind and hammer of silence only broken by the chaffinches and pipits, sheep or cow.

The history the permanence and persistence to change, the fragility of life ....so much. Thank you for this wonderful cottage, the place, the time the people.

We have just made a return visit to Nantcol after the success of our recent visit at this wonderful house. In the meantime there appears to have been a very critical mention of lovely Nantcol on this website, which we feel is unfounded and feel a bit protective of! This ancient house has been kept by the owners so truthfully and lovingly to the old rustic styles of mountain houses. It is set in such breath taking part of Snowdonia. The house is extremely comfortable, with sheep skin rugs on the old Welsh furniture, super clean bed linen, the kitchen is traditional farmhouse kitchen with slate on the surfaces and a belfast sink etc...not modern but delightful, an aga and all the stuff one needs for cooking is there...the house so perfect for families, and would be so romantic for couples, and is made for walkers, also we thought poets, painters, writers as it is something very special - it has soul and spirit!

Have just spent a great weekend at the house called Nantcol. Cosy, warm and breathtaking views. Highly recommend to those with an eye for adventure and fun. Great walks from the front door, lovely open fires and very comfy beds. Enjoyed cooking in the farmhouse kitchen with its ancient table. Will hope to return next year. Ideal for families and couples. So good to find a house with so much character and not stereotyped like so many cottages.

Clearly loved by the owners [Added at Editor's discretion since it appears to be a helpful review and the reviewer has been authenticated]

Have just spent the weekend at the house called Nantcol. What a delight to find such an authentic cottage in a spectacular setting. Cosy, warm (despite the rain on Sunday) with two lovely open fires. Loved cooking in the farmhouse kitchen with its ancient table. Great equipment. a great family cottage with lovely walks directly from the house.

Filthy kitchen, food stained greasy crockery and cutlery. Cupboards sticky and greasy with seriously out of date food remenents. Worst of all was the random use of mouse poison throughout the house. Absolutely shocking - we had an emergency vet visit and a near death of 2 dogs. Kitchen littered with mouse droppings and brochures stinking of mouse urine. Proceed with extreme caution

We have just spent a most wonderful Easter week up at Nantcol. We have been visiting this cottage for over 10 years and are extremely surprised to read the critical comments by a recent visitor. We have loved this ancient house since our children were babies. It has so much charm and character – both clean and welcoming. Wonderful crisp laundered sheets, very well equipped kitchen and two large open fires. Yes, it was cold this Easter but this weather has been exceptional throughout the land. The kids feel so free and soulful here they hardly noticed! This is a special place for those who love an adventure some 1000 feet in the beautiful Rhinog mountains, surrounded by wild mountain goats, walks from your front door, not a single house or person in sight from the house and rustic pleasures of open fires, warm beds and fresh air in your lungs. Roll on 2014 when we will be rebooking our Easter break in this unique and special place.

We visited Nantcol 2 years ago. A great visit but thought we would try something different the next years. However other cottages don't cut the mustard and my boys want to come back to Nantcol - the mountains, space, beauty and peace. Just heaven.
