Ideal location for us as we were visiting the Leics Archives which were located in south Leicester. Village of Fleckney very close and ideal for food shopping. We had intended to do more walking in surrounding area but were restricted by the poor winter weather but did manage visit to Foxton locks and did several canal walks. The cottage was quiet, very well equipped, comfortable and warm in winter.

Just what we needed for a short stay. Basic essentials provided: tea, coffee, cleaning products. Close enough to amenities while still in the country.

Extremely comfortable cottage in an idyllic setting. Lots of unexpected and very welcome 'extras' such as tea, coffee and basic cooking ingredients and kitchen supplies (cling film, foil, kitchen towels). The bed was very cosy and comfortable and the towels spotlessly clean large and fluffy! Everything worked and we appreciated the warm welcome from Greta and Richard!

Warm, cosy and well-equipped cottage (including all the things you are never quite sure whether they are supplied - kitchen rolls, washing up liquid, sugar, salt & pepper etc). Particularly impressed by the concentration on operating in a "green" way. Greta, as hostess, was perfect! Thoroughly recommended!

Welcome is very important to us, we were warmly welcomed by Greta who spent time with us making sure that we knew where facilities were and how to operate them. Greta assured us that we could contact her at anytime should we have any queries. It is important to say that Greta then left us to get on with our holiday - re-assured that we could contact Greta. We did not have any problem, but we took the opportunity to talk to Greta when we came back from a visit.

The Cottage was very clean and warm - with every household need being met with extensive facilities. The surrounding countryside is varied and interesting, with good eating places.Public transport from Fleckney is excellent and we took the opportunity to catch a bus into Leicester. We stayed four nights and wished it could have been 14. We look forward to visiting again next year.

Exceptionally comfortable and homely cottage, with friendly and helpful owner (thank you Greta!). Very spacious accommodation for a cottage for 2. Huge kitchen with all facilities, clean and modern bathroom, spacious living and sleeping areas. Lovely rural surroundings, yet close to Fleckney village (good shops, chippie etc) and so many beautiful places to visit within easy reach. We will definitely be booking at this cottage again!

The cottage was absolutely perfect and we would love to go back. Great size with everything you could need and spotlessly clean. Really nice entrance where you can leave muddy shoes etc before you actually get inside the cottage. Very cozy and lovely views from the living room window. So peaceful and could go for walks from the cottage.Definitely recommend for couples wanting to get away to quiet retreat.

The cottage was perfect everything that you could wish for and more. The views from the cottage into the garden were lovely, The cottage has been given a 3 star rating but it should have been given a 5 STAR rating. Our host's Greta and Richard were brilliant, we had a lovely welcome pack on our arrival and nothing was to much trouble for them. We would certainly recommend Elms Farm to anyone thinking of a quite relaxing holiday. Thanks again Greta and Richard.

What a lovely place. beautifully decorated, and everything you could want for a peaceful holiday. It is also well placed for sightseeing or shopping (Leicester is fantastic)

It is in a lovely rural location and the views from the cottage over the garden were just wonderful.

It is well equipped and has the added benefit of Wifi and TV.

Would definitely recommend this place for a holiday.

We received a warm welcome from our host Greta who showed us around our spotlessly clean cottage which we immediately felt very comfortable. My husband and I spent 5 glorious weeks in our lovely cottage overlooking a beautiful pond and wonderful birdlife. When we required some information or help Greta was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was fully equipped and I can\'t think of anything extra we could have required. It was like a little home of our own. Thanks you Greta and Richard for the weloming biscuits and a great discovery at Elms Farm. It will always be our favourite U.K. accommodation.

Make up of party:  This cottage would be suitable for a great getaway weekend for a couple to just relax and the supermarket and lovely Pub is just down the road!

Very pretty, cosy cottage for 2 people, well equipped (all towels & bedding are provided and even a hairdryer & iron, the kitchen had everything we could possibly need). Little conservatory that was ideal for taking off and storing muddy/wet boots & jackets after the walks (which has often been a problem in other accomotdations). Ideal for our dog was an enclosed field right outside that we were kindly allowed to use, so she could be off the lead and run as much as she wanted to.

Greta was helpful but never intruded, we felt very much at home in the cottage. [Cottage added at Editor's discretion since it appears to be a helpful review and the reviewer has been authenticated]

We heartily concur with all the previous reviews, the quality of this cottage and amenities quite surprised us. One small recommendation, the step between kitchen/sitting room, sitting room/dressing room and bathroom shower tray are difficult for older guests that have walking difficulties. A hand grip at the side of the openings etc. would help this. A heated towel rail and a shelf for toiletries would also be appreciated.

Cottage Review:

A comfortable well equipped cottage in a peaceful rural location adjacent to farm. Nice and spacious for 1/2 people and on one level (small single steps between rooms).

Rooms were bright and furnished in simple attractive style. Lovely hot and powerful shower.

The garden opposite the cottage was a nice outlook and I would have sat out if the weather had let me!

A lovely location for dogs as the owners allowed me to walk in the fields, plenty more public footpaths nearby. Owners helpful but discreet and respected my privacy. Attractive village of Fleckney 1 mile away with necessary facilities.

Make up of party:  I was on my own with 2 dogs but the cottage would be fine for a couple too.

Greta provided so many thoughtful welcoming touches; a spotless cottage, a tea tray, flowers but also practical things like pub recommendations and a couple of files of ideas for walking and cycling, which was exactly what we had come to the area for. Once settled in, we were left alone to enjoy the peace and quiet and the cottage was very well equipped, we had everything we needed when we returned from blustery days out. We highly recommend Elms Farm!

No problems booking over internet from Australia. Extremely friendly and helpful hosts, cottage had everything we required, very cosy and comfortable. Spent four weeks enjoying countryside and birds, very good value. Fleckney has supermarket and phone box, close to Wigston and Market Harborough, ideal location as we have family in the area. Would definitely stay again and recommend it to others.

We have stayed at Elm Farm Cottage on several occasions over the past 3 years. The cottage is extremely well equipped and very tastefully furnished. It is very cosy in the winter with its full central heating. The farm setting with surrounding coutryside is lovely and the cottage is ideally situated for visiting Leicester.

From the warm welcome to the comfort of the cottage and value for money, this is a stay well recommended. Many country walks on your doorstep and a good old fashion pub down the road. The amenities in the cottage could not be faulted with big farm house kitchen, washing machine in conservatory at side and comfy bed. We will be back.
