Description of the holiday cottage
Thorntree Barn is in the hills above Flanders Moss, midway between Loch Lomond, the Trossachs and Stirling, in central Scotland, on the southern edge of the Highlands - perfect for a self catering holiday in Scotland. Arnprior village is on the edge of the Trossachs and Loch Lomond National Park and is close to the Lake of Menteith, Scotland’s only lake. We are within one hour of Edinburgh and Glasgow, making this an ideal base for visiting Scotland’s major cities, as well as all the major tourist attractions and sites.

Carol and Mark Seymour who live in this old L-shaped farmhouse have converted one wing, a former barn, to make spacious self-catering rental accommodation which can sleep 6 or 7 persons in considerable comfort, making this a wonderful holiday cottage

Best Features
From Thorntree, Stirling and Doune Castles, The Trossachs and the Lake of Mentieth are only 15 minutes away, Edinburgh about an hour and Glasgow 45 minutes. In the living room there are plenty of reference and local guide books, and the Seymours are always happy to give advice about what to do in the area.

There are three twin bedded rooms, two of which can be arranged either as twins or doubles. One has a private shower room.

The property is rural and secluded, but easily reached, and has wonderful views over Ben Lomond and the Trossachs mountains.

Sleeps: 6

Cottage Review:   The House is really nice and cosy cottage which has been converted from a barn. Lovely scenery, cows curious about the visitors, very nice scenic view of Ben Lomond. The rooms were very cold at night, but the landlady was kind enough to switch on the heating for us for an hour which was really appreciated as we went down there with my parents. The fire place made the sofa and the room so cosy that you could easily fall asleep in front of it. The good thing was that Stirling Castle was very nearby, so was the local supermarket (Sainsbury). We enjoyed our stay in that house and would love to return once more when time permits us. Thank you Carol & Mark.

Cottage Review:   Enjoyed a lovely week at Thorntree Barn. Very comfortable and stylish accommodation, and well equipped too. The location is stunning and there are several lovely walks from the Barn. In addition, it is very convenient for a great variety of trips and visits to places of interest and outstanding natural beauty is all around! Highly recommended. Cottage Review:   What a fantastic place - great views across the Forth Valley to the Trossachs. Great for wildlife. Lots of space - plenty of room foor us and 3 kids. Great garden - lots of room for the kids to play football. Plenty of cutlery etc. Small, but nice bathrooms. Lots of interesting books on the bookshelves. The heating/electricity are to be paid at the end of the holiday - something that is mentioned in their website. Cottage Review:   Is there a more beautiful place in the world? This is the perfect place for us to stay, so very comfortable and cozy. The owners made us feel so welcome, sharing all the glories of the surrounding countryside with us. Wonderfully appointed kitchen that is open to the living area, making for an easy living situation. Grill out in the back and eat at the picnic table overlooking the fields and hills. Watch the sunset from the patio, back inside for tea by the fire. Plenty of space to spend all day inside too. The bedrooms were spacious and perfect even for three children in one of the rooms. Three bathrooms made it easy for getting ready and out in the morning too. We really felt at home here, and will always go out of our way to make sure this is our destination on holidays.

Cottage Review:   Spacious accommodations, very nicely built and furnished. The fireplace was especially welcome. After coming from France it was great to have so much room. One of my favorite trip photos is one I took from the upstairs bedroom looking out onto rolling green pastures with young lambs bounding about. The location was within easy driving distance to Glasgow and Stirling.

Cottage Review:   Carol's mother had lived here, so there are still items around which make a lived-in atmosphere rather than a sometimes stark rental cottage. For instance books, comfy chairs, vases for flowers, pictures, choice of place mats, lamps, etc. Indeed, the kitchen has more cooking containers than I want to use on holiday! However, I would much rather a place is over equipped than missing items so we found Thorntree Barn offered everything we needed together with a friendly, welcoming, cheerful and homely atmosphere. Gorgeous position and well thought out for parking and privacy. [Added at Editor's discretion since it appears to be a helpful review and the reviewer has been authenticated]
