| Cottage Review: After so looking forward to our break in Suffolk we found this cottage & its owners in a word. . . - Unpleasant’. The cottage itself was dusty, dated and overly cluttered for its size. It appeared to be simply a dumping ground for all of the adjacent owners old furniture, ornaments, cutlery, belongings etc. The sitting room only provided two, old upright armchairs for relaxing in - so although there was a tv and dvd player plus a well stocked bookcase, there was nowhere comfortable to sit - definitely in need of a comfy sofa there. The kitchen & bathroom were both well equiped though both grimy & dirty and in need of a thorough clean as was the whole place. The bedroom was an adequate size with two single beds, though again cluttered and dusty, my partner sneezed for the entire stay. The owners left list of ‘rules’ & guidelines in the cottage but ignored us for the whole stay - other than to take the rental fee & then only acknowledging us on the final day - when the male owner came to demand, whilst tapping his watch, that we vacate the cottage 12 hours early - as THEY had made a mistake on our booking form! He stated that he required 3 hours to clean the property prior to each guest, however it is doubtful that he had EVER spent that long to clean it. The owners do allow dogs and there is a tiny garden, though be aware this is Not enclosed and your pets could easily escape on to the road. In conclusion - not the relaxing stay we expected, would not visit this cottage again, the owners were not natural hosts - neither cheerful nor accommodating and seemed to see us as an inconvenience - rather than paying guests. It seems to be a case of them jumping on cottage-rentals bandwagon to cash-in - with an inadequate ‘shed’ in their garden. We would, however, visit pretty Huntingfield again but would definitely stay in another of the villagers rental cottages. - - - On the plus side, there is a great pub/restaurant in Huntingfield with fabulous owners & friendly atmosphere we’d recommend to drown your sorrows :) | |||||||||||||||||||||
