We have been coming to stay at Dick Turpin Cottage since 2000 and we’ll keep returning until we are too old to travel! The peaceful setting grows ever dearer to us. We love waking to the singing of birds in the countryside and ending the day soothed by the dark and quiet so rare in the modern world. The cottage, on the other hand, is a gem of artful elegance. It is roomy and airy; every window frames an enchanting view; and every appointment reflects tasteful refinement. We are always delighted that our warm welcome includes arrangements of seasonal flowers and a generous meal and treats for weary travelers in the refrigerator. South Shropshire offers plentiful historical and outdoor adventures, and yet it is not easy to leave the comfort of the house and grounds, even for the day. Are we enchanted? For visitors from the USA, Dick Turpin Cottage is magical.

We have stayed at The Dick Turpin Cottage for each of the last six years and each time have found that the exceptional standard has been maintained in every way.

All the facilities and decor are of the highest standard. The little extras such as the welcoming fresh flowers, pack of food, good quality bottle of wine and even the decanter of "Cockford Hall" aperitif are nice touches.

There are stunning views of the quiet Shropshire countryside from the front terrace and it is "a little bit of heaven" to relax there in the evening with a glass of wine.

We love to spend time relaxing in the secluded area behind the cottage and also walking up into the wooded grounds of the property.

Shropshire is a relatively little-known county that is uncrowded, a realaxing place to visit, packed with historic sites and many areas of outstanding beauty suitable for all standards of walkers.

We look forward to many further visits.

Cottage Review:

We have stayed at Dick Turpin Cottage so many times over the past 10 years that it feels like home. The cottage is beautifully furnished, well serviced and a joy to be in. It is wonderfully quiet and calm and life there just slows down to a manageable pace. We also like the walking locally, the scenery, hills being one of England's forgotten treasures. We'll be back!

A fantastic cottage in a beautiful area of Shropshire.

Perfect for couples and plenty to do in the surrounding area in all kinds of weather; walking, visiting towns and museums, shopping or even just staying in.

Would recommend to anyone!

We are about to make the 280 mile journey to The Dick Turpin Cottage for the 12th time! From the minute you arrive, the cottage weaves its spell. It is spacious, beautifully furnished and immaculately clean. It is maintained impeccably, each time we visit, we find the standard as the previous year. The welcoming food pack, fresh plants and flowers and bottle of wine ensure a warm welcome. In addition, books and leaflets provide information about the immediate places of interest and those further afield. The views are stunning, especially from the wooded walk behind the cottage. In spring and summer evenings, badgers can be seen if you are patient and well wrapped up.South Shropshire is beautiful, visit the cottage and you will leave, with enormous regret but imbued with the tranquillity of this fabulous retreat and determined to return!
