Description of the cottage holiday |
| Rainbow Cottage is situated in Low Hauxley which was originally a fishing village nestled in the dunes above the beautiful and very quiet sandy beach of Hauxley Haven. The cottage has been transformed into a light, airy holiday home with a contemporary feel. For those seeking a restful seaside holiday the location of the cottage is perfect as the beach is less than 50 metres away and at low tide there are rockpools to explore. Hauxley Haven lies at the northern end of Druridge Bay. These golden sands are popular with walkers, dog owners and absolutely ideal for families, as the beach is rarely busy and sometimes can even be deserted. From the beach there is a fine view of Coquet Island with its lighthouse, famous for having been manned by the brother of Grace Darling, the famous Northumbrian Heroine. It is now an RSPB reserve and is home to the rare Roseate Tern, Puffins, a large Eider Duck colony and many other seabirds. Just south of the village is Hauxley bird reserve with its ponds and hides from here a large variety of birds and wild fowl can be observed and photographed. For keen cyclists the coastal bike ride almost passes the door of the cottage which has a secure bike store. Low Hauxley is an ideal base for exploring Northumberland. It is close to a range of outdoor activites such as walking, bird watching river and sea fishing, boating, golfing, cycling and horse riding. |
