Cottage Review: This cottage is in a fantastic location,and a brilliant area to explore but we found the cottage disappointing as it does not live upto the description on the website. For example, it states recently refurbished, but we would hate to think what it was like before. It also claims to provide a washing machine with dryer, but what you actually get is a washing machine with drying rack. These statements are typical of the misleading description of this cottage. It says comfortable but the sofas are well past it and the beds just about adequate. However our biggest issue was the cleanliness. It really did not look like it had been cleaned this year with dirt that had been there quite sometime. Dust was everywhere, on skirtings, bedheads, under tables and chairs. The bathroom was particularly bad and we had to clean it before we could use it. Looking at the sink it has clearly not been cleaned from the previous occupants. The kitchen was no better and the website claim of handmade units should be viewed with caution. Plenty of cleaning materials were supplied but not obviously used. The owner blamed previous occupants but the level of dirt and dust just showed a general lack of any cleaning. This is one of three holiday cottages in a block of 4 and, during our stay, we had the opportunity to view number 3, Kielder Cottage next door and it is everything this one is not. If we visit the area again we will certainly book number 3.
