| Cottage Review:
Although situated in a lovely part of the country, my family and I found Dixiland Farmhouse to be a poor holiday home. The overall feeling was that the house needed a good deal of updating and repair and a thorough good clean. The bathrooms were very inadequate - 3 ensuites to serve 5 bedrooms. This meant that a 40 year old man in our party had to use the bathroom in the room of two 12 yr old girls - not practical at all. The garden looked pretty but was not suitable for two young boys wishing to play as the gravel made running and particularly falling quite unpleasant. We washed all plates and cutlery before use and even had to clean the insides of kitchen cupboards of crumbs before using. The cooker didint work for the first three days until the owner was able to contact his handy man to come and repair - something that apparently 'happens all the time'. I would not return to or recommend this property. |

| Cottage Review:
There is NOT a separate bathroom but 3 en suites, 2 of which have no ventilation at all and are really just wooden partitions at one end of the bedroom and were very musty smelling. The house was dirty esp the kitchen and utensils/crockery and overall the house needs repairs, updating and redecoration. It is 10 feet from a cow shed with a huge problem of flies in the house, although several cans of fly spray were provided and the garden is entirely gravelled with the 'play area' being 2 swings. It does not seem to be well cared for at all and there were no sheets or even mattress covers on the beds. There were cobwebs behind the beds and screws sticking out of the shower wall. A hole in the bathroom wall had a table mat nailed over it and the lampshade in my bedroom was stapled together. The walls and paint work were grubby and there were food crumbs in the drawers and cupboards. In my opinion it was not a pleasant stay and I certainly would not return. The rest of that part of Yorkshire was lovely. |

| Cottage Review:
We stayed here for a week, the children loved it. The kitchen is'nt the best but it is more than adequate. The price for the week was very reasonable, and you get what you pay for. The owner was great and very helpful. There was plenty to do in the surrounding area. We loved our week away and would definitely go back. |

| Cottage Review:
I've been to dixieland a few times and while I respect the other reviewers opinions, I feel that they miss the attraction. It's a dairy fame house, in the middle of glorious, north Yorkshire. So yes there are cows. Yes there are plants and insects. What you get is a beautiful house in a fabulous area. Light a the open fire, kick back and enjoy. |
