| Cottage Review: Last minute decision to go to Devon with the family - so very few properties to choose from. Was concerned that this property might be noisy (sometimes traffic queues for the Lower Ferry to Dartmouth) but it wasn't at all. Reassured by Toad Hall Cottages prior to the visit and they were correct. Was also slightly concerned that the ground floor might be too small. Basically one big room plus a cloakroom. Didn't prove to be so, but there wre only four of us in the is six person property plus we had great weather. A week of unrelenting rain and two extra bodies may have made this feel more claustraphobic. Recently refurbished, the feeling is modern and the cottage is nicely decorated. Well furnished. Generally good standard of fixtures and fittings. Very acceptable standard for a holiday home. Two grumbles. Our main area of complaint was the blocked shower. Shower base filled with water making it impossible to have a decent shower (OK for the baldies, not so good for those with long hair). It was sorted (five days into our break) but we had to chase the management company (twice) and then the agent (who got it sorted). Big tick to Toad Hall, big cross for the owner here. Now sorted so won't be an issue for the next guests. TV also broke on the first night. On our final day a very nice new TV turned up (again, great news for the next guests). I am not afraid to admit that when on my hols I do sometimes like to watch a bit of mindless TV in the evenings - so was disappointed that this wasn't sorted more quickly. Again, an issue of how the maintenance company and the owner liaise - not down to the quality of the property or the Agents. Parking outside is limited at certain times of the day, but a weekly pass in the boat yard car park 200 yards away does the job. Would be happy to recommend this place for a party of four, not so sure about six. Very good value for money given the great views, location and quality of the property. Niggles we spotted now sorted so I would think you'll be very impressed with this cottage. Issues do get resolved - eventually. If you have a problem my advice would be to phone Toad Hall Cottages and let them do their stuff. | |||||||||||||||||||||
