Description of the self catering property |
| Avoncroft Cottage is superbly located in the village of High Hawsker, Whitby, on the Yorkshire Coast. The North Sea Coast is just a fifteen minute walk away and the cottage provides the ideal base for exploring the North Yorkshire Moors as well as the pretty towns of Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay. This wonderful area has much to offer-from fossil hunting on the dinosaur coast, learning about wartime Britain at Eden Camp to the Moor to Sea Cycle Way for the more energetic! |
Best Features |
| The cottage itself is extremely well equipped with your comfort in mind and has been awarded 4* by enjoy England. The comfortable living area has TV with Freeview, a DVD player with a selection of family DVDs, comfortable sofas and a stereo with CD and radio. The dining area has table and chairs for six people and the kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, oven and all the cutlery and crockery you will need. A washing machine can be found in the downstairs utility room. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom. Each is fitted with anti allergy pillows and duvets and spare blankets, should you need them. |

Excellent facilities inside - better than expected from the photographs on the website.Garden not as big as anticipated and no grass, though secure fencing which was needed as the road is quite busy. |

| Cottage Review:
Very well equipped and well situated for getting around North Yorshire. Clean, Bright and airy. A few repairs need doing though, nothing major (broken wardrobe handle, hot wate tap that wouldn't turn off properly) but would just create the impression that the owners care. Chose this property because they take dogs, unfortunately we have small dogs so they could get out through the fence straight onto road. |

Owner response:
|
The owners live 140 miles away and cannot check the cottage every weekend. We rely upon the cleaners and the guest themselves to report any damages and faults. We only became aware of the broken wardrobe handle and dripping tap when we visited in July - we fixed them the same day. This week the guests reported a broken toaster plug and toilet seat - these were fixed within 24 hours by our handyman.
We take the maintenance of Avoncroft very seriously. We are assessed every year by \"Enjoy England\", and have been awarded 4 stars. We also have a comprehensive emergency PropertyCare service in place that will repair any faults and breakages to the heating, plumbing, electrics and drains within 24hours. |

Very spacious property in a lovely little village. Well situated for touring or walking the North Yorkshire Moors or Coast. The road through the village can be busy during the day, but more peaceful at night. |

| Cottage Review:
This is a lovely cottage to stay in.It is only 4 miles from Whitby where you can get brilliant fish and chips from the quayside fish shop. The cottage is really clean and tidy and very well decorated. All the rooms are very bright and spacious. The kitchen has everything you need, a real home from home. In the downstairs bathroom is a washing machine which I found very useful. I like the separate dining room and the lounge is very comfortable. The bedrooms are also bright and spacious - the furniture is in very good condition - looks nearly new. All the bed linen is clean and fresh, the beds are very comfortable as well. There is a good shower over the bath in the family bathroom. Plus you have the added bonus of the pub just over the road HA HA! |

| Cottage Review:
A really clean and bright airy house with lots of space. All the rooms are spacious and have everything you need. The kitchen is well equipped with all the utensils to cook just about any type of meal, it even has a wok. The shower is powerful and the bathroom is lovely and clean. All the furnitue in the house seems to be new, beds are very comfortable and linen is lovely and fresh. Its literally a 5 minute drive into Whitby. The Hare and Hounds Pub is just across the road, 2 minute walk and the food is delicious and not over priced, you really need to book though as they are busy every night. |
